Review: Lost & Found by Nicole Williams

Lost & Found
By: Nicole Williams

Series: Lost & Found Series
Genre: New Adult Romance
Length: 353 pages
Synopsis From Goodreads:

There’s complicated. And there’s Rowen Sterling.

After numbing pain for the past five years with boys, alcohol, and all-around apathy, she finds herself on a Greyhound bus to nowhere Montana the summer after she graduates high school. Her mom agreed to front the bill to Rowen’s dream art school only if Rowen proves she can work hard and stay out of trouble at Willow Springs Ranch. Cooking breakfast at the crack of dawn for a couple dozen ranch hands and mucking out horse stalls are the last things in the world Rowen wants to spend her summer doing.

Until Jesse Walker saunters into her life wearing a pair of painted-on jeans, a cowboy hat, and a grin that makes something in her chest she’d thought was frozen go boom-boom. Jesse’s like no one else, and certainly nothing like her. He’s the bright and shiny to her dark and jaded.

Rowen knows there’s no happily-ever-after for the golden boy and the rebel girl—happily-right-now is a stretch—so she tries to forget and ignore the boy who makes her feel things she’s not sure she’s ready to feel. But the more she pushes him away, the closer he seems to get. The more she convinces herself she doesn’t care, the harder she falls.

When her dark secrets refuse to stay locked behind the walls she’s kept up for years, Rowen realizes it’s not just everyone else she needs to be honest with. It’s herself.

My Review:
Rating:

This was a very sweet and heartwarming story of two seemingly different people that find they have more in common then either of them thought.

We follow Rowan a young trouble girl with a dark and scary past that is dumped at a ranch in Montana, by her coldhearted mother. We watch her grow as a person because of one very sexy ranch hand, Jesse. Oh yeah, and he's also the rancher's son. As the story goes on we come to find that Jesse's past isn't all sunshine and rainbows the way Rowan believes, his past is just as scary.

I enjoyed watching the two grow together and become strong people because of each other. However, there wasn't much that set this story apart from any other romance novel. I was wait for there to be more development between the characters. It would have been nice to see Rowan share a heartwarming moment with Neil, Jesse's father as oppose to only Rose and Jesse. I wanted to see more of Neil to understand is character better. :)

I was waiting for a more climactic moment other than a bunch of little action packed moments, and that only occurred in the last four or five chapters.

That being said this book wasn't horrible and now that I have finished it and discovered it was actually a series, the ending makes more sense and I plan to read the others in the future. I would like to know what kind of future is in store for Rowen and Jesse.

This was a free Kindle amazon purchase and even though it wasn't one of my favorite books, I'm glad I gave it a shot. :)

Mini Barnes & Noble Book Haul + Author Meet & Greet

Hey Ya'll!!

Hope everyone had an amazing weekend! And that everyone got to enjoy some really good books.

Yesterday, we went to a Meet & Greet at our local Barnes & Noble to meet the one and only Marci Lyn Curtis, author of The One Thing!! While we were there we also picked up a few books that have been on our TBR list for quite some time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meet & Greet with Marci Lyn Curtis

Before getting into our mini book haul, we wanted to share a quick picture of us with Marci.

She is a remarkable person, very sweet and we were so lucky to have gotten to meet her in person.

About 3 years ago my mom met her while waiting in line at Yallfest to get a book signed for us. While standing in line they struck up a conversation and when her first book, The One Thing came out we were lucky enough to be apart of
her Book Tour.

She is a phenomenal author and if you haven't had the chance to pick up The One Thing, you should. It is an amazing book, full of coming of age moments and humor. We can't wait for the release of her next book.

~~~ Check out our review of The One Thing here ~~~
Now onto our very mini book haul; being as we are moving soon we have had to refrain from purchasing books recently.
Review: Four (A Divergent Story Collection) by Veronica Roth
Four: A Divergent Story Collection
By: Veronica Roth
Genre: Dystopian, Young Adult
Series: Divergent Series
Length: 208 pages
Synopsis From Goodreads:
Two years before Beatrice Prior made her choice, the sixteen-year-old son of Abnegation’s faction leader did the same. Tobias’s transfer to Dauntless is a chance to begin again. Here, he will not be called the name his parents gave him. Here, he will not let fear turn him into a cowering child.
Newly christened “Four,” he discovers during initiation that he will succeed in Dauntless. Initiation is only the beginning, though; Four must claim his place in the Dauntless hierarchy. His decisions will affect future initiates as well as uncover secrets that could threaten his own future—and the future of the entire faction system.
Two years later, Four is poised to take action, but the course is still unclear. The first new initiate who jumps into the net might change all that. With her, the way to righting their world might become clear. With her, it might become possible to be Tobias once again.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth comes a companion volume to the worldwide bestselling DIVERGENT series, told from the per-spective of the immensely popular character Tobias. The four pieces included here—THE TRANSFER, THE INITIATE, THE SON, and THE TRAITOR—plus three additional exclusive scenes, give readers an electrifying glimpse into the history and heart of Tobias, and set the stage for the epic saga of the DIVERGENT trilogy.
My Review:
Rating:
Loved this book!! :)
I had read the Divergent books a couple years ago and absolutely loved the trilogy. I'm not one for reading the mini novellas released for many of today's book series. They have never been my favorite part of a story, so I generally skip them.
However, I needed a quick read for a school reading assignment and decided to give this book a shot since I loved the trilogy so much. I'm glad I did because I absolutely loved the book. It may have even swayed my opinion on novellas. I think there might just be more novellas in my future, especially if they are anything like these.
Four was my favorite character throughout the Divergent trilogy, like most people. ;) So the fact that there was an entire book dedicated to him didn't hurt my love for this book either. I enjoyed getting to see things through Four's eyes. Getting to understand what brought him to the Dauntless community and what events made him the man we all fell in love with.
My favorite part was when we got to see the events leading up to Four saving Tris's life at the chasm when Peter tried to do away with his competition. Seeing the events through Four's eyes was probably the best part of this book!
After reading this book I would highly recommend reading the novellas. They are definitely worth the read! My opinion on novellas is forever changed because of this book and I am a better reader for it!! :)
What do ya'll think of novellas?
