Review: The Copper Gauntlet by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black

The Copper Gauntlet
By: Cassandra Clare & Holly Black

Series: Magisterium Series
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Length: 264 pages
Synopsis From Goodreads:

Callum Hunt’s summer break isn’t like other kids’. His closest companion is a Chaos-ridden wolf, Havoc. His father suspects him of being secretly evil. And, of course, most kids aren’t heading back to the magical world of the Magisterium in the fall.

It’s not easy for Call . . . and it gets even harder after he checks out his basement and discovers that his dad might be trying to destroy both him and Havoc.

Call escapes to the Magisterium -- but things only intensify there. The Alkahest -- a copper gauntlet capable of separating certain magicians from their magic -- has been stolen. And in their search to discover the culprit, Call and his friends Aaron and Tamara awaken the attention of some very dangerous foes -- and get closer to an even more dangerous truth.

As the mysteries of the Magisterium deepen and widen, bestselling authors Holly Black and Cassandra Clare take readers on an extraordinary journey through one boy’s conflict -- and a whole world’s fate.

My Review:

Rating:

Holly Black and Cassandra Clare are remarkable authors. They truly know how to bring the Magisterium world to life. Cassandra Clare is one of my favorite authors, ever since I read her Mortal Instruments series. So when this series was released I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

I honestly love how Havoc is a wolf that no one seems to care about and just lets him roam about the Magisterium and the mundane world (see what I did there?). And the fact that Callum and the gang just took Jasper with them on a "road trip." I got a good laugh when everyone regretted Callum's desicion, even Jasper himself. Holly and Cassandra really know how to bring humor to such an amazing story.

If you read between the lines Havoc's little dog barks are telling everybody, "Who decided to bring this ding dong along? Like who said I wanted to smell his fresh rich smell the entire time?" I found it really sad when Callum turned to see Havoc bowing at him towards the end, when the others did.

I can't wait to get my hands on The Bronze Key. This is one amazing series and I highly reccommend this book to anyone who hasn't read it already.
