My Review:
Rating:
★★★

I always enjoy a good mystery novel and Allison Brennan has been my go to recently. Her books are always fast-paced and keep you on the edge of your seat to the very end.

Cutting Edge follows FBI agent Nora English as she races against the clock to stop a sadistic domestic terrorism group. Over the past several months multiple bio-tech businesses have been set ablaze by this group and up until recently no one was hurt, but one member has changed the rules and is out for blood.

Duke Rogan finds himself back in Nora's life as he works along side her to stop this psychopath that murdered one of his dear friends. Duke and Nora will stop at nothing to find the killer, and as the investigation heats up so does the romance between Duke and Nora.

Like many of Allison Brennan's book Cutting Edge had me hooked up until I came down sick with a terrible sinus infection, a week down and no reading. It took me longer than anticipated to finish this book and after going so long without picking it up I found it difficult to get back into. But I know if I had read straight through without taking that break, I wouldn't have wanted to put it down...eager to discover the truth behind these crimes.

I would recommend any of Allison Brennan's books, they are quick reads and perfect for that suspenseful-mystery fix.

Genre: Romance, Mystery, Suspense
Length: 448 pages
Synopsis From Goodreads:

DEADLY QUEST

When a top lieutenant in a notorious ring of human traffickers agrees to turn state’s evidence, Immigration and Customs Enforcement senior agent Sonia Knight believes she’ll finally take down the illegal operation’s devilish mastermind, Xavier Jones. FBI agent Dean Hooper has been chasing Jones for years on money-laundering and tax-evasion charges and doesn’t need or want a hot-headed ICE agent second-guessing his every move. When the Bureau is ordered to join forces with ICE, Sonia is just as livid: Her job is to save lives, not money. But their team effort pays off as fierce mutual resentment fades and passion flares–along with risk.

For Jones is just one piece of a depraved puzzle, answering to an even more dangerous predator. Denied his expected prey, this pitiless fiend intends to make Sonia and Dean pay with their own blood.

My Review:
Rating:
★★★

Whenever I need a mystery novel fix, Allison Brennan is my first stop. The first books I read of hers were the Lucy Kincaid series and I was hooked on her writing right away. She has a way of bring to life the world of her FBI crime novels.

Fatal Secrets follows Sonia and Dean as they work together to find and stop a notorious human trafficking ring.

Sonia, a seasoned ICE agent with a dark past of her own is hell-bent on bringing down Xavier Jones a well known philanthropist and lobbyist, with a secret career in human trafficking. She will stop at nothing to save the girls he has smuggled into Sacramento, even if it means joining forces with the FBI.

Dean, the Assistant Director in charge of the FBI always gets is man and this time his sights are set on Xavier Jones. If it's the last thing he does Dean is arresting Jones for his money laundering shenanigans.

Can Sonia and Dean work together? Will Sonia be able to face her past? Will she be able to trust Dean, in order to stop these monstrous criminals?

Because someone else is in play in this game and they have it out for Sonia. Will Sonia and Dean be able to stop them before it's too late?

If you're ever looking for a good FBI/crime novel, Allison Brennan is the place to look. Ive always enjoyed her books, they are fast paced and definitely keep you guessing.

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!!

We hope everyone had a wonderful and success 2019. This past year flew by and sadly we didn't do as much blogging or reading as we had hoped, but it was a great year all the same, we took the time to forge new paths and spend time with family and friends.

Chloe graduated high school this year and a few months later jumped into online courses to become a vet assistant. She also spent several hours volunteering at our local Animal Shelter, something she as really enjoyed. She loves helping with the dogs and getting them into their forever homes.

Personally, I took some time to figure out my career goals; looking for a change. Got a promotion at my current job and plan to start dog training classes this year, with the goal to open our own animal rescue one day. I also reunited with some old friends, which has helped get me out of the house more. :)

2019...this last decade even has been packed full of so many great things, we can't wait to see what is in store for us in 2020.

We do hope to post more reviews, have more blog posts in general. Our plan is to participate in some book memes throughout the year and spruce up or blog along the way.

If you have any ideas for improvements/changes feel free to share.

Did you make your reading goal in 2019? What have you set your 2020 goal too?

Chloe and I just barely made our goals this year, it was a struggle to get into reading until the very last second however we were able to pull through.

Personally, I am shooting for 50 books this year...it is going to be quite the challenge. And Chloe has yet to set her goal for the year...she is still debating.

Happy New Year!!!
