Cover Reveal: Brave by Jennifer L. Armentrout

"Brave" by Jennifer L. Armentrout releases December 11th, 2017.

Who else is excited for Brave, the third book in Jennifer L. Armentrout's amazing series Wicked? I know I can't wait!! :) And this cover is absolutely gorgeous!!

Can't wait to add this book to my bookshelf!!

Synopsis:

Ivy Morgan hasn't been feeling like herself lately. Not like anyone can blame her. After all, being held captive by a psychotic fae prince hell-bent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld is bound to leave some mental scars.

It’s more than that, though. Something dark and insidious is spreading throughout Ivy, more powerful than she could ever imagine... and it’s coming between her and the man she’s fallen deeply in love with, elite Order member Ren Owens.

Ren would do anything to keep Ivy safe. Anything. But when he makes a life altering choice for her, the fallout of his act has far reaching consequences that threaten to tear their lives apart.
If Ivy is going to have any hope of surviving this, she must put aside the hurt and betrayal she feels, and work with not only those she loves, but with an enemy she would rather kill than ever trust. War is coming, and it soon becomes clear that what Ivy and Ren thought they knew about the Order, themselves, and even their enemies, has been nothing but a cluster of dangerous, deadly lies. Ivy knows she must be more than just brave to save those she loves--and, ultimately, to save herself.

Because behind ever evil fae Prince, there’s a Queen

Review: Colorless by Rita Stradling

Colorless
By: Rita Stradling

Series: Colorless Series
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Length: 400 pages
Synopsis From Goodreads:

In Domengrad, there are rules all must live by: Fear the Gods. Worship the Magicians. Forsake the Iconoclasts.

To Annabelle Klein, the rules laid down by the Magicians are the mere ramblings of stuffy old men. As far as she’s concerned, the historic Iconoclasts, heretics who nearly destroyed the Magicians so long ago, are nothing but myth. She has much more important matters to worry about.

Heiress to a manor mortgaged down to its candlesticks and betrothed to her loathsome cousin, sixteen-year-old Annabelle doubts the gods could forsake her more.

Then Annabelle is informed of her parents’ sudden and simultaneous deaths, and all of the pigment drips out of her skin and hair, leaving her colourless. Within moments, Annabelle is invisible and forgotten by all who know her.

Living like a wraith in her own home, Annabelle discovers that to regain her color she must solve the mystery behind her parents’ murders and her strange transformation.

Meanwhile, hundreds of the Magicians’ monks, with their all-black eyes and conjoined minds, have usurped control of Annabelle’s family manor. An Iconoclast is rumored to be about—a person who they claim goes unseen, unheard, and lost to memory, yet is the greatest threat to all of Domengrad. For the first time in a hundred years, the monks plan to unleash the dire wolves of old.

Their only target: Annabelle.

My Review:

Rating:

***I received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review***

***Caution Spoilers Ahead***

"I will fear the gods, worship the magicians, and forsake the iconoclasts forevermore. Let it be so."

Much like my previous review, the first thing to draw my eye was the cover. This cover is absolutely beautiful and provided promise of a fresh story, a step away from the norm. And I can say with complete honesty that that was the case with Colorless.

Right off the bat we meet Lord and Lady Klein (Annabelle's parents) and we discover that someone is out to murder the Klein's, with the exception of Annabelle. However, after her parents murder Annabelle finds herself invisible and lacking color. Everything she touches becomes colorless and forgotten just like herself.

Just when she thinks all is doomed, she discovers that the stable boy, Dylan can in fact see and hear her. Dylan finds himself wanting to help Annabelle find her color once more, but he may be too late.  Annabelle is sick and dying, becoming truly invisible even to those that can see her; like Dylan and his family.

This story was captivating and beautifully written. Rita Stradling is a phenomenal author, her writing had you feeling transported through time. It was almost as if you were experiencing the story right along side Annabelle and Dylan.

There are often times I do not enjoy the multi-POV's, however I truly enjoyed experiencing each characters life and struggles. From Annabelle Klein, to Dylan and even her cousin Anthony Klein.

There wasn't much romance throughout this book and while I missed it at times, it was a nice change to not have that insta-love connection between Dylan and Annabelle. However, there was a slight promise of romance brewing between the two within the last few chapters. I look forward seeing where the relationship ends up.

I would definitely say this is a must read, especially if your looking for something different. This book was a pleasant surprise and look forward to reading the next installment.
